Class Descriptions

Hatha Yoga

Hatha is one of the oldest forms of yoga; a tonic for mind and body. It combines physical postures (asanas) with breath control (pranayama) and concentration. Classes range from gentle to moderate intensity and focus on alignment, controlled movement and relaxation. Postures may be held or flow fluidly into the next. Suitable for all levels of experience.

Mums 'n' Bubs / Toddlers Yoga

Rehabilitate your body post childbirth. This class combines hatha yoga with elements of calorie burning Vinyasa and core sculpting Pilates. Classes are a great opportunity to bond with your baby, and are good for baby too! Yoga aids babies’ developing motor skills, promotes better sleep, stimulates their nervous system and can relieve colic. Babies are easiest to manage pre-crawling, but older babies and toddlers are certainly welcome to attend!

Babies must be a minumum of 6 weeks old. Mothers must be at least 6 weeks post partum (8 weeks for c-section). Breast and bottle feeding always welcome during the class.

Jacqui is a mum herself to 11 month old baby Brayden, who also joins the class.

Pilates

Pilates is conditioning system and form of corrective exercise which focuses predominantly on students' abdominals, legs, hips, chest and back (ie. on developing a strong core). Students can expect to see improvement in their flexibility, muscle strength and endurance, coordination and balance. Classes focus on spinal and pelvic alignment and on using the breath to improve stability and circulation.

Pilates' is suitable for students of all levels of experience and physical fitness.

Teacher

Jacqui Kortt

After working in corporate sales for a number of years, Jacqui decided to follow her heart and swapped her business suits for lycra tights. In 2009 she  trained with Studio Pilates in Brisbane. In 2011 she embarked upon Yoga teacher training with Power Living Australia. It would redefine her spiritual and professional path. Jacqui lives and breathes yoga! She adores the immaculate balance of strength and flexibility that yoga offers. Over the past eight years, she has studied extensively in health and wellness, taught countless yoga and Pilates classes to both large groups and individuals alike. She has also undertaken additional training in Prenatal and Postnatal (mums and bubs) yoga.

Jacqui is a certified instructor of BodyStep, BodyAttack and freestyle group fitness, but has retired from teaching "fitness" in favour of teaching wellness (and thus now teaches only Pilates and Yoga).

Jacqui is the founder and former owner of a popular boutique yoga and Pilates studio on Sydney's north shore, which she reluctantly sold after giving birth to her first baby.

She holds a Bachelor of Business - Marketing from Macquarie University, a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education (Business Studies and Legal Studies) from UNE Armidale.
